June 2007

•  The first issue of business for this meeting was our show. The show committee updated everyone on the progress of the sponsorship and vendor drive. Both sponsorships and vendors are coming in, and we're getting there. However, all members of the club are encouraged to continue bringing in sponsors and vendors whenever possible.
We've apparently broken the 50% barrier on sponsorships. Good work so far, but lots still to go!

•  The second topic was the picnic. Cam Hastings has agreed to have us over to his place on the 12 th of August. This is apparently a Sunday, so mark it on your calendars! As with last year, the club will supply the burgers, dogs and pop, but everyone should bring something else, such as a salad or desert. Cam will be bringing maps next time.
Also, don't forget to bring lawn chairs or something else to sit on!

•  There was also some discussion about the Westmount library event. Overall, the members that came out agreed it was a fun social excursion. However, there were apparently a few instances of people handling models, and not everyone was thrilled with that (understandably).
There is a possibility of us doing it again, and we've been offered the display case and room at Westmount by the Library for closer to our show in the fall. Something to think about for the next meeting.

•  The main focus of the night was the Swap Meet. It was fairly well attended, and there was a good amount of plastic changing hands it seemed.

Next Time: Dave Walter, Doug Booth and Tom Drysdale are apparently going to teach us about photoetch!

See you then!
