Meeting Minutes:

This was, like last month, a very busy meeting; so busy in fact we did not have time for 50/50.

•  The first issue was the 2008 Show. Scott Taylor had already made a preliminary flyer for the show. (Ah, the value of templates!) The title of the show is “Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!”, and will have animal based theme awards.

There was a show committee sign up, and Scott, Dennis Glas, Paul Bird, Ed Kubiak, Aaron Proper, Lee Rehorn, Adam Rehorn and Graham Ross (in absentia – he's doing PR work) were among those who signed onto the committee. My apologies if there were others that I haven't named – I didn't get the list written down before we went to Kelsey's.

There will be a show committee meeting on December 6th , possibly at Neo Tokyo. Details will be confirmed later by email.

•  There was a reminder that next meeting is the Pizza Jeopardy night. It is the last night in the big room, so we should make the most of it. All you need to do is bring your appetite.

On that note, an email will be going out to all club members about attendance for the next meeting. Please confirm if you are coming, so the correct amount of pizza can be ordered.

•  The “one year build” contest, wherein everyone brings five kits and then the rest of the club decides on one they should build for that year was also discussed. Two major changes were put in place, however.

a.) The kits, along with your $35 in dues, should be brought to the JANUARY meeting, at the arena. Don't bring the kits to December's meeting, since we'll be too busy playing Jeopardy and eating to do them justice.

b.) It is no longer a ‘one year build'. Now it is a ‘9-month build'. We want these kits to be ready for display at our show on October 4, 2008 . Everyone who completes their kit for that day will get their name thrown in a hat, and then a winner will be drawn.

This will not onlymotivate us to get some kits built, but also help with the problem of apparently insufficient club participation at the show.

•  This was also the day we decided what to do with the extra money the show made for the club. It was decided to keep most of the money aside as a seed fund for the next show. It was also decided to get a thank you gift for Stuart Clark's wife who so selflessly ran the check-in/registration counter THE WHOLE TIME.

After a bit more debate, the motion to purchase an LCD Projector for the club was put forward, seconded and passed. The vote, while not unanimous, was largely in favour of the unit. No other alternatives were presented with a budget, it is worth noting. For those who still have concerns about the unit, a large part of the concern seems to center on custodianship of the unit. However, this can be dealt with once the unit is in hand.

On that note, the previous show committee will be responsible for the purchasing of the unit in question.

•  It was announced that WELLCoME is back for 2008! The guys and gals in Guelph are intending to have a show in the early part of March 2008 (close to the Hamilton show – good for us in the area!). Also, Torcan is in May of 2008.

•  Many thanks go out to Ed Kubiak for agreeing to do a demonstration on the creation and application of mud. Ed demonstrated the use of MiG Pigments and acrylic resin (not surprisingly available from www.thebarrelstore.com ) to make mud for dirtying up your tanks! It was an excellent and well-received demonstration that involved a lot of work in a short time. Nicely done, Ed!

•  The website has been renewed, and in the coming year members should look for a ‘benefits of membership' section that will outline local ( Southwestern Ontario ) hobbyshops' and hobby businesses' discounts given to card-carrying IPMS London members.

As usual, there was a show and tell table, and it was much better than last month! There were some interesting things on there, including the new Airfix RNLI Lifeboat, a few aircraft, some trains, a Mobile Suit and some photographs from airshows.

Next time:

Our big Christmas Party featuring Model Jeopardy. Study hard! Remember who's making the questions!

See you then!
