If Doug has one passion above all others, it is the late, lamented Avro CF-105 Arrow; Doug still observes "Black Tuseday"
every year. This is Hobbycraft's troubled 1/72 scale kit, which Doug put a lot of work into to produce an accurate,
detailed replica of Arrow 203. A Hasegawa CF-104 provides some scale for the big interceptor.

Hobbycraft's 1/72 CT-114 Tutor provided the basis for Doug's CL-41 Tebuan, the attack variant of the Canadian jet trainer.
Malaysia was the only export customer for this plane. Doug's fine work netted him several contest wins with this
model.

Sometimes, Doug can be a bit of a glutton for punishment. The amount of work he had to put into this PM 1/72
Ta-154 to make it a decent model is a case in point. Among other things, engines from an Italeri Ju-188 were grafted
onto the nacelles to replace the shapeless blobs in the kit, and the antennas were replaced. A lot of putty had to be used
to make this kit appear to fit together.

Doug also has a fondness for rigged subjects. This is KP's 1/72 Po-2 biplane, done up as a night intruder aircraft
from the Eastern Front.

Take KP's 1/72 Piper Cub, add Contrail struts, Aeroclub floats, and kitbashed markings, and you end up with this
very attractive Canadian bush plane.

Doug's Magnum Opus of ship models is this Heller 1/400 Richelieu. Using several Gold Medal Models
photoetched sets, Doug reproduced this French battleship as she appeared while serving in the Pacific in 1945.
Over 100 photoetched figures walk her deck.

Another battleship, this one in 1/700 scale. Hasegawa's IJN Haruna sets sail for Leyte Gulf with the aid of some
Tamiya tugs, Skywave's Japanese warship detail parts, and Gold Medal Models' Japanese battleship photoetched set.

This is Ultracast's excellent 1/700 scale resin and photoetched kit of HMCS Haida, plying the waters of the Bay of Biscay
in search of German shipping. The real Haida, still in existence, is slated to move from Ontario Place and become the
centrepiece of a new naval museum in Hamilton.

Doug used Skywave's 1/700 scale Bogue class escort carrier kit to build the first Canadian-crewed aircraft carrier, HMS
Nabob. Gold Medal photoetched and Fujimi Avengers and Martlets give the carrier added character.

DML's reissue of Skywave's 1/700 scale Independence-class light carrier became the USS Princeton, the last American fleet
carrier to be sunk in battle. As well as the obligatory Gold Medal photoetched accessories, Skywave antiaircraft guns
protect VF-27's sharkmouthed Hellcats as they launch from the Princeton's deck.

A study in contrasts. This is Doug's 1970s-vintage Hasegawa 1/72 G4M1 Betty. It depicts a Rabaul-based
aircraft with a locally-applied camouflage. Doug hand-painted the hinomarus and used True Details seatbelts.
Compare that to ...

Hasegawa's 21st Century incarnation of the same plane. This is their new-tool G4M2 Betty, also in 1/72
scale. Doug used the Eduard photetched set on this and applied Bare-Metal foil to some panels before painting, then
lightly sanded those areas to simulate weathered paint.
