Aaron is another of our new members for 2003 (although he is no stranger to most of the club members).  Aaron's tastes run mostly towards sci-fi (especially anime) and aircraft.  His collection of kits is of near-legendary proportions, and sometimes he even completes them!  I'll let Aaron tell you about his models in his own words.

Imagine that.  I finished my one-year build on time!  I would have finished sooner but (insert excuse here).  Here's Hasegawa's 1/48 C-21A.  In case you were wondering,  the C-21A is a LearJet 35 built to spec and for use by the USAF.  I've only seen this kit built 3 times before, ever.  Not sure why as it goes together rather well.  Mine is OOB although I did rescribe mine as a means to learn something new and,  I prefer recessed to raised panel detail.

Now for the sore spot on this particular kit because as you know almost every kit has one problem or another.  The decals I found were horrible to get them on.  I found out later that hot (I mean HOT) water help out considerably.  Even then the decals still sucked. If there were aftermarket to use I would have used them.  But nobody makes them for a 1/48 C-21A.  I got them on regardless, but I feel it's not my best work.

Here's a few pics of the Eduard Profipak 1/48 Heinkel He-280.  The jury is still out on whether or not it's worth the Profipak price, as I found the PE was the only thing that really added extra detail to the model.  But, they do give you parts to do a Jumo 004 engined one.  And the decals should be replaced with something from the spares box as the white seems to be a bit translucent.  Not to mention, they were a huge pain to get them on.  If I had only remembered where I had stuck that Aeromaster sheet.....

A lot of people like to lump Eduard's kits in with the likes of Tamigawa's wonder kits.  But after building this I can honestly say this isn't so.  It's somewhere between those wonder kits and a good fitting Fine Molds or Monogram kit.  Not a shake'n'bake kit, but not a huge pain in the ass, either.  I built it as a Junkers Jumo 004 powered version simply because that engine was chosen for production, and everyone was building the HeS 8a powered version.  I love standing out in a crowd of Me-109s!

Four views of my 1/72 Valley of the Wind Gunship.  This kit comes from the classic Miyazaki work.  It was not a hard build and, besides, is just a neat ship.  I built this kit a fair while ago, and I have a second kit that I should do something with ...
