| A happy boy with his Christmas presents, Aurora's 2001 Orion shuttle and Imai's Thunderbird 2. |
Your Illustrious Webmaster (and ex-El Presidente) has been building models since before people walked on the moon (his
first kit: Aurora's 1/48 MiG-15). He builds ABC (Anything But Cars), as he likes to describe his interests, although he has
a special soft spot for 1/35 American armour, 1950s jets, and World War II aircraft (preferably in 1/48 scale).

My latest build, the Italeri DUKW. Perhaps what is most amazing about this model is that fact that I got it done
in a month! A full build review and article can be found here.

Tamiya's Panzer IIIL was a real delight to build. I added DML tracks and Aber engine screens, along with some homemade details.
In order to build the 10th Panzer Division vehicle from Tunisia that I wanted, I had to scratchbuild a large stowage box
on the right front fender, the jerry can rack at the rear, and some other fittings. I used this model as a testbed for wash
techniques, and was quite happy with the results.

Tamiya's 1/35 Cromwell, an almost out of the box project. Just a few bolts and straps added here and there bring a little
more life to a great kit.

DML's SdKfz 250 series are among the best kits that DML has ever released. I chose to build the 250/8 model, with the 75mm
L/24 gun, since I always liked the looks of that big gun on such a small chassis. I added a variety of details and lots of
stowage to the model, and cooked up my own 116th Panzer Division markings, since I could not find any in-service shots at
all of this vehicle. Unfortunately, once the interior was done, I came across an article which detailed the differences in
internal configuration between the standard APC version and this one. It figures!

This is DML's 1/35 M1A1 HA Abrams, done as a Desert Storm vehicle. I think the DML kit is the best starting point for doing an accurate 120mm armed Abrams,
but it was not a simple kit, and I added quite a bit of detail. The commander is an old Verlinden figure, while the stowage
is from a variety of sources; markings were airbrushed.

This is Nichimo's venerable 1/48 Ki-43-I Oscar. A superb kit for its age, this was an absolute joy to build. Only True Details
wheels and seat belts and a hypodermic pitot tube were added. Aeromaster decals for Japanese ace Tateo Kato, commander of
the 64th Sentai in early 1942, were used.

One of my very favourite kits, DML's IS-2. This kit was just plain fun to build: the fit was great, detail (especially casting
texture) was very nice, and the individual track links were so simple to construct that this model would be an ideal introduction
for those with a phobia relating to link to link tracks. My only significant addition, aside from tow cable holders on the
rear plate, was an MV lens for the headlight. The turret markings were done using a home-made stencil and a white pencil
crayon.

One of my older projects, Tamiya's 1/35 Late Tiger 1. This kit, in the markings of an S.Pz.Abt. 502 vehicle during the
Normandy campaign, is basically out of the box, with a set of Cavalier zimmerit (highly recommended) applied.
